Remember His Promises

I sometimes get so frustrated. I get annoyed and feel like I’m spinning my wheels. I can’t pinpoint the source of my frustration, so out of almost a sense of desperation, I reach for my Bible, blow off the dust and open it up.

It’s probably been a while. I’ve drifted away from God and I am most certainly not living the truth of God’s promises in this moment. As I read more and more, I’m reminded of who I am in God, how much He loves and cares for me, and how He has all things in His hands. Reading and remembering His promises floods me with a sense of peace that can only come from time with Him. In those moments I ask myself:

Why do I always forget to read God’s Word? Why do I let it slide when life is easy but then pull it out only when things get bad?

According to an old trick, if you need to remember something, you tie a bow around your finger at the exact moment that you are thinking of that thing. Whenever you see the bow, you will recall what you needed to remember.

A lightbulb went off for me. Why will I go out of my way to remember to pick up food from the grocery store, or write myself a note to look for that show someone recommended on Netflix… but won’t make a reminder for myself to read and pick up God’s Word?

He calls me beloved and wants to spend time with me. And He feels exactly the same way about you!

These past few months as we’ve been thrown into a weird time of uncertainty, I’ve been working on some special ways to remind you of how important it is to remember God’s promises. Meditating on His Word and remembering what it says help you recall all of the promises He has for you by heart when you need to remember them.

Remember the trick of the little bow on your finger? Each little bow in this new collection I designed is hand-tied by me, with an intention to be a beautiful little reminder to you!

When you see the little bow on your Bible, it’s a reminder to pick it up. When you see your journal on the table, you’ll be reminded to open it and write. And when you carry your tote and someone asks you about the little bow, you can share about the story behind God’s love for them.

Don’t wait until the dust has piled up and you feel distant from God. Put that little reminder bow on your Bible now and make it a point to remember His promises daily!

Here is a little sneak preview of a few of the pieces I created that I call “Promises”. I can’t wait to show you the rest!

You are loved.

You were created with a plan and a purpose.

You are never separated from God.

You are worth more than rubies.

You are cherished.

You are redeemed.

These are just a small handful of the more than 3,000 promises that God made to us in His Word. And God is known for His promises, because He has never broken a single one!

When you are feeling discouraged, defeated, anxious or alone, I want to remind you that God’s Word isn’t just a book. It’s His Words, thoughtfully and painstakingly written and saved for you over all of these years. He has made a way for His Word to withstand the test of time so that you can have these Words to talk to Him and learn about who He is. And by reading and studying His Words, you will also learn a lot about who you are in Him.

Over the next few weeks, I’ll be reminding you again and again of these promises. I’m going to show you this beautiful collection of tools that I’ve designed to keep His promises at the forefront of your mind.

I’d love to hear in the comments below…. Can you share the first promise of God that comes to your mind? Let’s see how many we can list and encourage one another ♡

  1. I know His promise to always love us no matter what!
    Romans 8:38-39 NIV
For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

  2. My favorite promise is found in Matthew 28:20b. “And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age”. I remind myself that no matter what happens He is with me. What more could I need?

    1. I love this one too, Judy! We often hear it when referring to the second coming…but we don’t need to wait to have Him with us, He is here with us now! His Spirit is always with us, and this is such a comfort ♥️ Thanks for sharing!
