I sort of feel like black has gotten a reputation for being a winter color. Summer is all about pastels. Rich, warm tones are all the rage in fall. So how do we change our thinking to include this versatile color in a way that doesn’t feel too “heavy” for the season? How to we create Fall Black?
I love the idea of using black as an accent color with a softer hue, like grey. Above, we paired a simple black clutch with a grey top, black leggings, grey booties, and this fabulous plaid scarf from Chic Threads by Amy’s Harper Collection. I love how the black grounds the light colors, keeping the grey from feeling too light for the season. It gives great balance to the look!
In this look, the jeans ground the lighter colors. Pair dark or even black jeans with a fuzzy white sweater for the perfect fall look! We sometimes overlook the awesome pairing of tan and black. We play it safe with grey/black or tan/brown combos. But this look shows that brown and black DO play well together!
We chose these adorable suede booties and a coordinating cork brown clutch to keep the look seasonable and light. The black and red plaid scarf is the perfect accent to the white sweater, framing the face with a light splash of color.
Sometimes all you need for your outfit is a versatile bag, which is why I wanted to highlight the black ruffled bag. I love how this bag keeps you organized, and can carry almost anything you try to stuff inside of it. I can fit my big bible, all of my pens, a notebook AND my purse essentials in this one. It’s perfect!
