Sometimes when we don’t know what to say, we are told to say nothing at all.

But sometimes, when we are at a loss for what to say, in those moments, we can quiet our own loud voices and let God’s voice shine through.

Today as I sat down here and prayed, I was asking God what it is that He wants me to say to you. I looked through my Bible, read and reread passages that spoke to my heart. I struggled to find words to put down that summed up what I was feeling God was nudging me to share with you today.

I got up, walked away and came back. I prayed again. I asked God again “what should I say?” I was actually starting to get frustrated…not very becoming for a lady 😬

I started reading again, seeing great passages and learning little bits and pieces of what God says in His Word, but again, I had nothing to say.

That’s when it dawned on me. Sometimes I’m so busy trying to force myself to hear from God that I truly miss what He is trying to tell me!

I don’t know why, but sometimes I have such a hard time quieting my own loud and crazy thoughts to let God’s still, small voice break through the noise in my head. Can you relate?

Are you ready to start quieting down and start hearing God?

Reading God’s Word and talking to Him shouldn’t be a chore. It shouldn’t be one of those things that we put off because it’s too confusing, intimidating or seems over our heads. It shouldn’t be something that causes us to stress, which is exactly what I allowed this time today to become.

You might have noticed in the past that these Sunday devotionals that I write to you every week started happening on a more regular basis. Is it because I love you and care about you and your faith? Of course!!!

But it’s also because I need accountability in my own faith. And showing up here for you each week means that I need to dig in the Word, be in constant prayer and seek God’s will in all things. Why?

Because I don’t know it all. Far from it, in fact!! Even though my roots in the Bible are long and deep, my faith needs a lot of work.

God is never done speaking to any of us. It’s just up to us to open our ears and our hearts to hear what He is trying to tell us

One way I believe God is pulling me closer to Him is through talking to you each week in these posts. It’s such a gift, one that I need to learn to recognize and appreciate.

If you want a little help organizing your thoughts while you read the Bible, I designed little book called the Quiet Time Journal.

Make the most of your time with these self-directed journals.

You’ll know EXACTLY what to do to take your understanding to the next level. PLUS, you’ll be able to look back at what God was speaking to you throughout the entire month at a glance. Imagine how nice it will be to look back on your journal and clearly see the amazing journey God has taken you on

How is God speaking to you? Have you quieted your own thoughts long enough today to hear Him? Have you opened your bible and prayed today?

If you’ve answered no to any of these questions, I urge you to:

Choose a book in your bible and just start reading. Write down what you read, even if it doesn’t make sense. Pray about it. Then tomorrow, pick up at the same place, search out answers to the questions you had from your reading and keep on going. God has so many exciting things to tell you, so be ready and anxious to hear what He has to say to you!
