Are you in the middle of something right now? A situation in your life where you aren’t quite sure where it’s going to lead you?
Are you trying to see the future so that you can know what decisions to make today?
Here you have a man who did everything “right”. He was an upstanding citizen, he provided for his family. He loved God with his whole heart. But, for reasons we can’t understand, God allowed Job to be tested in ways that I can’t even imagine. His entire family was killed. He lost all of his livestock, which meant he lost his way of living. Then to top it all off, he became covered with painful disease that made even taking a breath excruciating.
While he was in the middle of all of this, a few of his friends came to him to basically sit with him and just be there for him. They tried giving him advice, but their advice (while from a good heart) didn’t reflect what God was in fact doing in this situation.
So what was He doing in Job’s life at that time?
I don’t know if we’ll ever know on this side of heaven. But God knew and Job trusted Him! It’s clear when you read this part of Job’s response to his friend.
“Where then does wisdom come from? Where does understanding dwell? It is hidden from the eyes of every living thing, concealed even from the birds of the air. Destruction and Death say, ‘only a rumor of it has reached our ears.’ God understands the way to it and He alone knows where it dwells, for He views the ends of the earth and sees everything under the heavens. ”
Job 28:21-24
God understands the way to wisdom, because He IS the way to it. All wisdom is in Him.
So how does this apply while we sit in the middle of some big picture that we can’t yet see?
We can seek His wisdom in the little things. We can look for tiny miracles along the way! Recognize God’s hand in even the minute little steps in the direction He is leading you. Praise Him for showing you only what you need to see, here and now. And remember to trust that while we can’t see the future, we can trust the One who not only knows the future, He knows every little important detail of the present.

♡ It’s good to really understand just how great and endless the wisdom of God really is. This week, look up the following passages and really dig into God’s wisdom:
- Romans 11:33-36
- Proverbs 3:5-6
- Proverbs 1:7
- 1 Corinthians 1:18-31

For the past few years I have experienced more than the usual amount of turmoil. None of my plans have gone according to Hoyle. To list all the sorrows and mishaps would take too long for me to peck out with one finger. I fell and broke my left wrist a few days ago. This one needed surgery. Right before our vacation! Last spring it was a broken elbow that ruined our vacay! Waaaah! Eliphaz, my own dear Eliphaz, came alongside to cast light on my situation. I was able to bring up Job 13:5. I am taking Brittney’s advice. I do have a hard time letting go of the wheel. The beautiful doxology at the end of Romans 11 prompted me to read the whole chapter. God is not finished with Israel and He who began a good work in me will be faithful to complete that work too.
It can be so frustrating sometimes, can’t it Kat!?!? I love that Brittney’s post was able to encourage you to dig a little deeper into the Word. That’s why I love this community so much! God uses each of us to encourage someone we’ll likely never meet. Thank you so much for sharing, and I hope your arm heals quickly!!
In the past year or so I have been going through some drastic changes and lost sight of where exactly I was going.
I let go.
I let go of a lot of extra curricular activities to focus.
Let Him take the wheel!
Sister!!! You and me both!! I’ve let go of so many things this year with prompting from Him. I fought it and didn’t understand why He was asking me to give up so much, but now I’m beginning to see Him putting the pieces back together and building something that I never even thought to ask for! I miss you, friend, we’ll need to talk soon ?
I’ve learned to take one day at a time. Trying to relax & not stress myself out. God is watching over us. I’ve learned to have patience. Went through a lot to get where I am now. Making myself happy is on the top of my list. God Is Good…
It’s so great to see the fingerprints of God as we look over what He has carried us through! Thank you for sharing Debby, it’s a wonderful testimony to His faithfulness!
Thanks for this good reminder!
You’re welcome! Thank you so much for letting me know that you liked it ♥️

So needed to hear this! There are so many things coming up that I have zero control over. Of course instead of trusting Him, I worry. I know He has everything under control. Thank you for this reminder.
I need constant reminders, too! It’s a good thing we all have each other to lean on ♥️
